During Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Sacred Heart, children learn about and experience their Catholic faith through song, skits, games, crafts, Bible exploration, friendships and so much more!

Wilderness Adventures: Through The Sacraments

Get ready to blaze the trail at this summer’s wilderness-themed VBS, where kids will embark on an adventure to discover the Sacraments and how God’s grace guides us every step of the journey. 

Dates: June 8-12, 2026

Time: 9:00-11:30 am

Location: Sacred Heart School, 1601 Grand Ave, West Des Moines

Grades: TK/Kindergarten-5th (26-27 school year)

NEW THIS YEAR! Students going into 5th grade can choose to attend as participants or volunteer to help with the younger grades.

Children of all abilities are welcome! We have trained volunteers who can support children with special needs. We are also able to provide 1:1 adults, should your child need this support. We have many special education teachers, speech pathologists, and school psychologists present during the week.

Registration fee: $35 per student. Financial assistance is available. 

REMINDER! Participants are FREE with a volunteering adult (parent, grandparent, adult sibling) for the 5 days of VBS. The fee is waived for ALL children in that family.

The registration cost covers instructional materials, t-shirt, and daily snacks. Payment can be cash/check to the church office or paid through Venmo @SacredHeartwdm-Church (please include VBS and your children(s) name in the notes section.) Please note this is NOT the same Venmo as used at Sacred Heart School.

At this time, we can only guarantee 150 spots for participants. After 150 spots are filled, your child will be placed on a waiting list. If we have enough volunteers to accommodate more participants, we will open up to the waiting list. Register early to guarantee your child a spot!

We are thrilled to offer VBS at Sacred Heart, and it would not be possible without the help of wonderful volunteers. We have several roles to fill including help before and during VBS.
